Apple reportedly moving Mac mini production to the US

In a BusinessWeek interview earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed plans to manufacturer some of the company's Mac computers in the US. At the time, Cook didn't say specifically what models would be made in Apple's home country, but he noted that the plans went beyond mere assembly and have been in the works for a long time. He also revealed that the production wouldn't be handled directly by Apple, but that the company would be investing over $100 million to make it happen.

New, thinner 21.5-inch iMac available this Friday

                             
Earlier this month a rumor surfaced claiming Apple would have to delay the launch of their redesigned iMacs due to an issue with a welding process. Although a second report citing unnamed sources denied those claims, Apple has now come forward with a solid release date for the popular all-in-one.

Production issues might delay new iMacs until early 2013

According to a "commercial source" speaking with French blog MacBidouille, the updated all-in-ones may not hit shelves until early next year due to manufacturing complications related to the 5mm edge thickness of the mounted display/chassis -- 80% thinner than previous generation models.
