Steam suspends "The War Z" sales due to gamer outcry

Following numerous player complaints, indie zombie-apocalypse sandbox title The War Z has been removed from sale on Steam. Kotaku provides a great, in-depth look at exactly what happened, but most complaints were due to a bevy of missing features and game hacking. The developer described items such as private servers, being able to spend XP for new skills and sprawling 400 kilometer landscapes -- none of which had actually been implemented in-game. Well, not yet, that is.

Steam Game Guides lets gamers publish their own walkthroughs

Valve announced yet another new Steam feature today: Game Guides. The community-driven addition aims to give Steam users not only the means to create their own guides, walkthroughs and how-tos, but also publish them to the masses. As most bleeding-edge features from Valve, Steam Game Guides is currently in beta.

Valve readies living room PCs to rival next-gen game consoles

There have been several hints that Valve is working on its own hardware over the last few months. There’s the Steam’s TV-centric Big Picture mode, which recently came out of beta, work on a Linux port that could power "open hardware platforms" and flip-flopping references to a console-like gaming box. But now Gabe Newell is making no secret about the fact that the company will start selling PCs for the living room next year.
