More than half of Americans use mobile phones instead of landlines

A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control used to track demographics of landline telephones reveals that more than half of US homes don’t have or didn’t use their land-based telephones in 2012. The evidence really isn’t all that surprising when you consider the adoption rate of mobile phones, especially among young people.

Survey names Verizon the best US carrier, AT&T the worst

Consumer Reports has released its annual cellular service report with findings that are similar to last year's. After surveying 63,253 cellular subscribers across 23 metropolitan markets, Consumer Reports determined Verizon Wireless to be the highest-rated provider among the four major US telecoms, scoring relatively well when it comes to voice and data quality, staff knowledge and issue resolution.

Survey: 48% of motorists between 18-29 use Internet while driving

According to a survey performed by State Farm Insurance, as many as 21 percent of smartphone-owning drivers confess to accessing the web while driving -- or webbing -- as the company refers to it. Drivers between the ages of 18 and 29 are by far the most likely demographic to endanger themselves (and others) though for a quick Internet fix with 48 percent admitting to the deed.
