Steam Machines to feature Nvidia, AMD and Intel GPUs
Last week, Valve revealed specifications for prototype Steam Machines that will be sent to 300 lucky beta testers, with all systems featuring Nvidia graphics cards. Despite Nvidia dominating prototype Steam Machines, Valve confirmed to Maximum PC that when the SteamOS-powered systems hit the shelves, they will feature hardware from AMD and Intel as well.

JPR: Nvidia weathers turbulent PC market with 20% quarterly growth
Jon Peddie Research (JPR) has published its third quarter statistics for the graphics processor market showing weak seasonal performance with shipments down 1.45% quarter-over-quarter and 10.8% year-over-year. The underwhelming results were largely blamed rocky PC shipments, which stems from factors including ongoing economic woes in the US and abroad as well as the increasing popularity of tablets.

Nvidia releases beta GeForce drivers for holiday PC games
GeForce owners hoping to get the most out of new PC games may want to grab the latest drivers from Nvidia. Posted today, the 310.61 beta is deemed a minor update over last week's 310.54 beta release, but it improves support for Planetside 2 and Hitman: Absolution, both of which officially launched today. Folks playing Call of Duty: Black Ops II on a multi-GPU setup will also benefit from 310.61's new SLI profile.

Titan supercomputer displaces IBM's Sequoia as world's fastest
The U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is now home to the world’s fastest supercomputer, according to the latest Top500 list. Aptly dubbed Titan, the Cray-built system knocked off IBM’s Sequoia after only six months in the top position, with a performance of 17.59 petaflops on the Linpack benchmark, or quadrillions of calculations per second, beating the previous record of 16.32 petaflops.

Nvidia posts solid Q3 results, says future of cheap PCs is tablets
Nvidia posted solid financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended October 28, helped by the growing demand for Tegra chips in smartphones and tablets as well as a successful rollout of its Kepler-based graphics lineup for PCs. Net income during the period rose to $209.1 million, up from $178.3 million a year earlier, on record revenue of $1.2 billion. That represents a 12.9% jump in revenue over last year and a 15.3% jump over the last quarter.
