HTC third quarter profit beats estimates as cost cuts offset weak sales

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp swung to better-than-expected profit in the third quarter from a heavy loss a year earlier, as cost cuts helped it offset the impact of still-sluggish sales.

Exclusive: HTC scales back production lines as cash flow worsens-sources


(Reuters) - Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp has halted at least one of its four main manufacturing lines, accounting for at least a fifth of total capacity, and is outsourcing production as a sales slump puts pressure on its cash flow, according to sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

HTC is planning to launch two unique Windows RT tablets in 2013

HTC is reportedly developing two Windows RT tablets that will debut sometime in 2013 according to sources familiar with the company’s plans. The rumors contradict earlier statements by HTC which said they would withdraw from the heated tablet market in the US, allowing big names like Apple and Samsung to continue their dominance in the space.

Samsung wins U.S. court order to access Apple-HTC deal details

(Reuters) - A U.S. judge has ordered Apple Inc to disclose to rival Samsung Electronics details of a legal settlement the iPhone maker reached with Taiwan's HTC Corp, including terms of a 10-year patents licensing agreement.

Apple must share HTC settlement details with Samsung

A few days ago Apple and HTC settled a longstanding patent dispute that resolved all current lawsuits between them and resulted in a 10-year licensing deal to share existing and future patents. Financial details were kept under wraps, and though analyst believe Apple will receive $6 to $8 per phone sold from HTC, the latter has called those estimates ‘outrageous’. Well, Samsung's lawyers will soon know for sure.

HTC Droid DNA packs 1080p display, costs $199 on Verizon

HTC is looking to regain some lost ground in the U.S. smartphone market this holiday season with the release of a seriously spec’d up device on the nation’s largest carrier. Announced in a joint press event this morning, the Droid DNA’s standout feature is a five-inch Super LCD 3 screen boasting a 1920 x 1080 resolution. That’s a massive pixel density of 440 PPI, the highest on any mobile on the market.
